008: An Account of The First War

Of Jame the Chronicler.

In the region of Orfor in Western Kenna, where the Keeper Olink called home, after The Great Flood of the year 100, when Hassius III was Emperor of Kenna, the waters of the Sezpin lowered. Much of what was Orfor washed away with the receding waters. The very western edge broke free from the rest of the land and drifted several miles from shore.

The denizens of Orfor divided themselves into two groups: Those who followed the general, Pellas, the ones who were skilled warrior; and those who followed the way of the mage, Nopra. The followers of Pellas blamed the followers of Nopra for the breaking of their land, because of their delving in the magical arts. The followers of Nopra blamed the followers of Pellas because they didn't follow Addonai, for it was from devotion of Addonai that the followers of Nopra drew their power.

Pellas declared war on Nopra and her followers. This began what would become known as The First War. Nopra's followers took the symbol of the spider as their banner, and called themselves the Spidra and took their half of the land of Orfor and named it Urchin, after the beasts that lived in that area. The followers of Pellas took the name Ardurians, after Ardur, the master of dragons from ancient days.

The Spidra conjured spirits and called upon the Naiads to fight alongside them in the battle. The Ardurians used the ancient stones of Ardur to call the ancient dragons from the depths. They called Ciero, the red dragon; Argard, the silver; Beline, the blue; Draco, the black; and Pirus the crimson.

All in all, the battle lasted 16 months. The Spidra laid down their arms, and called back their spirits, asking for a peace treaty. The terms were settled, on the grounds that it be known that the Ardurians would've won, had the battle continued. Being people of humility, the Spidra found that to be a small price to pay for peace.

The dividing line between Orfor and Urchin was set and marked by the Sezpin River, which flows westward into the Sezpin Ocean. Thus ended The First War.
